Election Coverage Questions:
I don't understand the map. Why are the
results so much different than the national polls?
The map tracks the electoral votes by
using state-by-state poll results, rather than one
comprehensive national poll. In the 2000 election, Al Gore
won the popular vote, but George Bush won the electoral
vote, assuming the presidency. Therefore, tracking electoral
votes is more important than the overall nationwide popular
vote.
